Sam is a composer, producer and musician. Originally from North Wales, he studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama between 2010-14 and has been based in South Wales since. He writes and produces in tandem; and while his songs explore dream-like narratives and nuances of the human condition, his compositions blur the lines between chamber minimalism, electronic music and experimental abstract sound.
He has composed music for television (Tree On A Hill / Pren Ar Y Bryn [2023], The Light In The Hall / Y Golau [2023], Hidden / Craith [2018-22], Bregus [2021], Hinterland / Y Gwyll [2016]), film (Grav [2021], The Arborist [2020], Steel Country [2018]), theatre (Storm.1: Nothing Remains The Same [National Theatre Wales], Iliad [National Theatre Wales], The Snow Queen [Storyhouse], Tide Whisperer [National Theatre Wales], The In-Between [Theatr Clwyd / Sherman Theatre], Tide Whisperer [National Theatre Wales], and installation (Love Bugs [Chapter Arts Centre], Dyfodiaith [Chapter Arts Centre]).
Sam is a frequent collaborator with composition collective John Hardy Music – founded by John Hardy and including composers Tic Ashfield and Benjamin Talbott – who together have created original soundtracks for acclaimed television series.
He is also a member of bands Boy Azooga and Part Time Signals, and has performed under many other outfits and guises.
